Show Host Biographies

 

Lanny FordLanny Ford Ford is General Manager of HRN Broadcasting, Inc.’s four stations includes ESPN 730 and held that position since the inception of the company in 2004.  Prior to joining HRN, Ford worked in education and coaching, and started his broadcasting career in 1995 as a play by play announcer for high school sports.  As a former Clemson lineman in the late 70’s; sports has been a focus of Ford’s life.   Ford holds a BA in Education from Lenoir-Rhyne College, and MA in Education from Appalachian State University.   Ford has handled many on-air positions on ESPN 730 from the beginning and currently hosts a daily show “The Bottomline”, color analyst for high school football and for the past 2 seasons worked as color analyst and co-host for the “Alan Major Show” for the Charlotte 49er’s men’s basketball team.  Lanny is married to Kim an instructor at Catawba Valley Community College.  

 

 

Bobby Rozinski

Bobby Rosinski  Rosinski joined ESPN 730 in May of 2011 and is currently co-host of the station’s afternoon drive show “The Pulse” from 3-6 and Assistant Program Director.  Rosinski also covers the local sports teams including the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Bobcats and will start the season as a sideline reporter for the Charlotte 49er’s football radio broadcast team.

Previously, Rosinski worked for IMG as a studio host for the University of South Florida, and in the same capacity for several other universities in the IMG family, including the ACC Game of the Week. 

Rosinski grew up outside Washington, D.C. and has also spent time in Atlanta before settling in Charlotte in the mid-90s.  Rosinski graduated from Appalachian State University with a BA in Electronic Media and Broadcasting in 2006.

Chris Allison  - Chris Allison joined the ESPN 730 team in September, 2013. He comes to Charlotte after spending nearly nine years in Wichita, Kansas, where he hosted a morning show, "The Gameplan," along with pregame shows for Wichita State Men's Basketball.  Prior to moving to Wichita in 2005, Chris spent eight years working as the Sports Director at KSAL in his home town of Salina, Kansas.  He also was part of the Kansas State Sports Network from 2002-2004, working as the Sideline Reporter for Football, and also as a fill-in Color Analyst for Men's Basketball. Chris was named the 2001 and 2002 Oscar Stauffer Award Winner for his efforts covering high school sports in Kansas. Chris is married to Reba Allison, and they have five young children.

Al Gardner - Al was WBT's morning host from mid 1997 until the end of 2011, when he left to help an old friend who was attempting to develop radio stations in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, accepting the position of Vice President of Programming and on air host. Missing Charlotte terribly, Al returned in mid 2013, discovered ESPN 730 and is now co-hosting "The Bottom Line" with Lanny Ford. While at WBT, Al had the privilege of interviewing the top names in local news and sports, received many of the industry's top awards, and enjoyed top rankings in both ratings and in sales, as a spokesperson for Harris Teeter, Time Warner, Diamonds Direct, Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, Tyndall Furniture Galleries, Miracle Ear, as well as car dealers and local home improvement companies.

Prior to Charlotte, Al served as a manager and air talent at WGST in Atlanta, and WFLA in Tampa, both now Clear Channel stations, and was a TV news anchor/reporter in San Antonio and Cincinnati.
 
His switch to sports was precipitated by a life long love of boxing going back to his Police Athletic League days in his native Philadelphia (staying active in the Charlotte Boxing Club), was assistant golf coach at Cannon School in Concord, and follows the Knights and Phillies with a fever.
 
Al's hobbies include composing music, and he was honored to have one of his original pieces "Music Box Waltz" performed by the Charlotte Symphony in late 2009.
 
Al's wife Robin is currently opening a wine retail store in Davidson, and they have two sons, one a writer in Austin,Texas, the other a writer for MLB (Major league Baseball) in New York City.
